Badgers post strong middle-distance marks on day two in California
AZUSA, Calif. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team continued competition on the second day of meets in California, highlighted by a pair of top-10 program performances in the 800 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Patrick Hilby delivered one of the fastest 800-meter performances in school history, placing sixth in the elite section with a time of 1 minute, 46.03 seconds. The mark moves Hilby up to No. 3 all-time at Wisconsin, improving from his previous No. 6 standing.
In the invitational section, Henry Risser also turned in a strong showing, finishing sixth in 1:47.68. The Golden Valley, Minnesota native's time ranks No. 10 in program history, giving the Badgers two entries on the all-time list from the same day.
At the Beach Invitational, Jacob Zednik led Wisconsin in the field events, placing ninth in the javelin with a throw of 217 feet, 5 inches (66.27 meters)
Up Next: Wisconsin wraps up competition at the Beach Invitational on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., with results available on Finished Timing.
