Finger wins 1500 at Penn Relays

Kylie Finger climbs to No. 4 in Wisconsin history with a 4:11.69 finish.
PHILADELPHIA – The Wisconsin track and field team opened the Penn Relays with a strong first day, headlined by Kylie Finger's victory in the 1500 meters.
The Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, native moved to No.4 in program history, winning the race in 4 minutes, 11.69 seconds, despite racing out of the second section of the event. Finger took the lead with two-thirds into the race and never looked back.
Her time ranks 8th in the Big Ten Conference.
Junior Nick Gilles finished in fourth in the men's steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 8:44.27 in his season debut in the event. His mark ranks 20th in the NCAA West Region.
Maggie Munson competed for the women in the steeplechase, recording a time of 10:32.95 that ranks 10th in school history.
In the 5000 meters, Leané Willemse led the Badgers, finishing in 17th in her heat in 16:10.52. Liv Phillips followed, finishing in 16:54.74.
Up Next: The Badgers return for day two of the Penn Relays on Friday at 12:25 p.m. CT, beginning with the 4x100‑meter relay. In Des Moines, the throwers continue competition at the Drake Relays starting at 11:00 a.m. CT.
