Men's tennis alum Darius Mackenzie directed 'And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind
MADISON, Wis. – Darius Mackenzie, a former Badger men's tennis player and UW-Madison alum, will be featured in this year's Wisconsin Film Festival. In his feature debut as a director, Mackenzie's film "And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind" will be shown on Sunday, April 12 at 4 p.m. inside the Chazen Museum of Art.Â
Mackenzie's film, "a story about a couple on a wilderness canoe trip, makes time itself its subject with ambitious, transfixing results. (Isthmus Magazine)" His work earned the Wisconsin Film Festival's 'Golden Badger Award', given to a film that has ties to Wisconsin or UW-Madison alums. A Southern California native, Mackenzie played tennis for the Badgers from 2014-18. He played in more than 50 matches as a Badger and earned ITA Academic Scholar Athlete honors in 2017. After graduation, Mackenzie returned to the Los Angeles area to pursue photography and film making.
