Jacobson earns NFCA Third Team All-Region honors

Senior ace garners postseason award
MADISON, Wis. - After emerging as the ace of the Wisconsin softball team, senior Shelby Jacobson garnered NFCA Third Team Great Lakes All-Region honors to cap off a career season.Â
The Chicago native has put together her best year in the circle, earning a 14-9 record, good for the most wins on the team en route to her first postseason honor as a Badger.Â
Jacobson paced UW throughout Big Ten play as well, racking up eight wins. Those eight victories against conference foes is tied for the seventh-most in program history—tallying the highest total since Maddie Schwartz finished with a program record of 12 back in 2022. She capped off her time with a Big Ten All-Tournament team honor as well.Â
The right-hander led UW to a 14-10 record in the Big Ten and a seventh-place finish, marking the third-most wins in program history.Â
In total, Jacobson has racked up 108 strikeouts in 146 innings of work, each of which are team-bests.Â
Jacobson and the Badgers (32-19) are slated to be back in action on Friday, May 15, as they will make their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their first since the 2022 season—opening the Austin Regional with a matchup against Baylor at 12:30 p.m. CT from Red & Charline McCombs Field.
