MADISON, Wis. - The No.15 Wisconsin men's rowing team will compete at the 79th annual Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges Championships, or the Eastern Sprints, in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Sunday, May 17.
1. WHAT TO KNOW -- The Badgers will send three eights to the East Coast for the Eastern Sprints. The Badgers are seeded No. 12 in the varsity eight, No. 11 in the second varsity eight and 15th in the third varsity eight. Due to injuries, the Badgers will not field a fourth varsity eight.
The Badgers own varsity eight titles at Eastern Sprints in 2008, 2002 and at the inaugural event in 1946. The Badgers won Rowe Cup titles as team points champion in 2008 and 1946.
At the 2025 Eastern Sprints, UW brought four boats and ended up in the petite final in all four races. The varsity eight boat finished third in the petite final for ninth overall, with a time of 5:43.16 over 2000 meters.Â
The second through fourth varsity eight found themselves in fourth, fourth and sixth. The Badgers took 10th in the Rowe Cup standings for overall team points. Harvard won the title. Â

2. WHERE THEY LEFT OFF -- The Badgers last raced at the Lake Morey Invite on April 25 and 26.Â
Wisconsin excelled on day one of the two-day competition on the East Coast. UW competed against No. 7 Dartmouth and No. 19 Georgetown. The first and second varsity eights successfully challenged the Hoyas, with the third varsity eight falling just short. Although the Badgers fell to Dartmouth in all three races, the varsity eight was off by just three seconds.Â
On the second day of the regatta, only the second varsity eight could come on top against No. 17 Columbia.Â

3. FUTURE BADGERS - The Wisconsin men's crew recently signed nine Badgers for the class of 2031. Walker Bogen, Harry Hamilton, Rowan Muhly, Vrishank Nalla, Oli Nash, Jack O'Keef, Mathias Rincon, Lucas Wald and JP Watts will all be familiar faces on campus come September.

4. WHERE TO NEXT -- If UW is to qualify at the Eastern Sprints, it will move on to the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships from May 29 to 31 on Lake Natoma in Gold River, California.Â
