Livingstone leads Badgers on Day One of Big Tens

Junior takes sixth in 10,000 meters
LINCOLN, Neb. – Junior Johnny Livingstone placed sixth in the 10,000 meters to highlight action for the Wisconsin men's track and field team on Friday at the 2026 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Nebraska Track Stadium.
Livingstone finished the 25-lap race in 29 minutes, 54.98 seconds to score three team points for the Badgers.
A pair of Badgers were in action in the javelin as Jacob Zednik finished 10th with a heave of 212 feet, 9 inches (64.85m) while Robin Ott was 15th with a toss of 196-9 (59.97m).
In the decathlon, Jack Schmeling is 13th after the opening day of the 10-discipline event with a score of 3,490 points. The freshman earned a fourth-place showing in the shot put, throwing 44-11 (13.69m) to highlight action.
Josh Onwunili took 17th in the prelims of the 200 meters in 20.66. He will be back in action on Saturday in the 100-meter prelims at 4:30 p.m.
Liam Newhart led UW in the 1500 meters, finishing 19th overall and third in his heat in 3:51.53. Cillian Gleeson made his Badger debut, clocking in at 4:00.97
