Wisconsin opens Big Ten rowing early due to weather

Fours lead the way with fourth-place finishes in three heats
INDIANAPOLIS – The 2026 Big Ten Rowing Championships started Friday at Eagle Creek Park, a day early due to expected inclement weather on Saturday.
Racing heats on Day 1, the Badgers' results put all seven of their boats in Sunday petite finals for places 7-11.
UW's top results came in the fours with its varsity, second varsity and third varsity fours crossing the finish line in fourth place in each of their heats, one spot out of the top three advancing spots to make grand finals.
The Badgers get back on the water for finals on Sunday beginning 8 a.m. CT. The event airs live on BTN with former Badgers Grace Latz and Mandi Kowal part of the broadcast team.
