UW falls to Baylor in elimination game
AUSTIN, Texas - The Wisconsin softball team dropped its second game of the day, concluding a 33-21 season at the Austin Regional with a 5-2 loss to Baylor.Â
Junior Hilary Blomberg provided UW's first run of the day—launching a solo home run to deep left field. The Verona, Wis. native broke the program record for most home runs in a season with that swing, earning her 16th deep fly of the season to surpass Kayla Konwent's (2019) record of 15.Â
The Bears responded with a four-run first inning, creating chaos on the basepaths. After struggling in yesterday's affair, Baylor racked up 10 hits on the day to eventually power past the Badgers (33-21).Â
After the Bears added one more in the second inning, sophomore Kendra Lewis earned her seventh home run of the season in the fourth frame.Â
UW could not muster up a rally on the offensive end throughout the rest of the game, as Baylor punched its ticket to the Austin Regional Final tomorrow afternoon.Â
The Badgers (33-21) finished the season with its 10th-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, exiting after three games in Texas.Â
