Why Wisconsin?
The coaches and everyone made me feel like I will become part of a great family.  Every time I visited here it always felt like a good fit.  Wisconsin has top-notch academics and great business program.  Also important to me was being able to play softball in my home state.

Off the Field with Kayla:
My favorite thing about Wisconsin Softball is: Being able to play in the Big Ten and compete against some great schools.
Before each game I ...: Put everything left on first (sock, pant leg, shoe, batting glove)
A non-athletic talent I have is: I’m pretty good at board games.
One thing I absolutely have to do before I turn 40: Go skiing in Colorado.
Favorite quote: The most important thing about you is not the things you achieve; it is the person that you become. – Coach Murphy
Most memorable softball achievement or favorite softball moment. Playing in the first-ever  PGF High School All-American game in California after Nationals. Also being invited to join the Louisville Slugger Hit Club. These two events capped off my travel and high school careers.
If I could change one softball rule, it would be… No intentional walks would be allowed
Best UW memory: Right now, probably playing on the UW softball fields during the high school championship games during my freshman and junior year.
Greatest fear: Death of a loved one.
What song would you put on the soundtrack to your life? Humble and Kind
What is your favorite movie line or scene? I have two: From the movie Sandlot – “Man this is baseball, you gotta stop thinking, just have fun.” or from A League of Their Own -  It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great. “
What is your favorite book?  The Rhythm of Life by Matthew Kelly.  My favorite quote from the book is long but goes like this. “The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the- best- version-of-ourselves or encourage us to become lesser versions of ourselves. We become like our friends. No woman becomes great on her own. The people around them help to make them great. We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the- best-version- of- ourselves.”
Favorite UW athlete? JJ Watt- he not only was/ is one of the best football players to come out of UW but he is selfless and helps so many other people.
Favorite athlete? Jennie Finch- I know that sound clique but I got the opportunity to meet and talk with her during the All-American game I participated in (she coached west team) and not only is she an amazing softball player with great accolades but a really nice humble person as well.
