2019: Played in 17 games for the Badgers...started in 15...recorded second career assist against No. 4 team in the country and Big Ten opponent Indiana (9/20)...played a total of 1407 minutes on the season becoming a regular in Wisconsin's starting lineup
2018: Played in 14 games for the Badgers predominantly as a sub…recorded one start on the year against Penn State (10/14)…scored his first career goal in dramatic fashion, putting in a rebound off his own saved shot with less than a minute left to tie the game against Maryland, which the Badgers eventually won in overtime (9/21)…recorded his first career assist on the game-winner against Marquette (9/26)…saw the field for 516 minutes of total action

Prep: A Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, native, Russell was the captain of the Marquette University high school. The 5-11 midfielder had 10 goals and eight assists in his senior season at MUHS and led his team Division I WIAA State Champions for the second-consecutive year with a No. 4 NSCAA ranking and 20-2-0 record. He was named first-team All-Greater Metro Conference as the highest-rated midfielder, first-team all-area, second-team all-state and an Esmark All-American. He was also awarded the prestigious Tom Burn’s Sportsmanship Award and was coached by Steve Lawrence. Additionally, Russell was a member of the 2016 Masonic All-Star team and 2015 High School Boys Preseason Super Camp All-Star team.
While maintaining a vigorous athletic career, Russell also participated in the Make a Difference Club, Marquette High Big Brother Program and Milwaukee Bavarian Soccer club, while also earning Academic All-State Honor Roll in 2016 and remaining on the High Honor Roll.
