Why Wisconsin?
"I chose Wisconsin because of its tradition of success in academics and athletics that will push me to reach my maximum potential as a student-athlete."
Off the course with Jake
Where is your favorite place to run in Madison? Picnic Point
How would you describe the team? A group of guys that love to joke around and have fun while at the same time knowing what it takes to win.
My favorite thing about Wisconsin cross country is: being surrounded with a coach and teammates who love running as much as I do
Which teammate have you learned the most from and what have you learned? I have learned the most from Olin Hacker because I have learned from him that hard workouts don’t translate into success. Your training plan must be smart so that your legs are fresh when you need them to be.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals? Slapping all my leg muscles obnoxiously loud to intimidate my competitors.
The best thing about the Zimmer Course is: the number of hills. It keeps the race honest and reveals who the real cross-country runners are.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in a race? Two twins started a conversation right behind me during a race.
What is your favorite cross country memory? Traveling to Oregon to race at Nike Cross Nationals
When did you start running competitively? Sixth grade.
What do you love most about running? The feeling of freedom during long runs.
Why did you choose cross country and track? I chose cross country and track because I loved running and racing against other runners.
If you could go on a run with any one person, who would it be? Bruce Lee
What is your career goal? My career goal is to become a physical education teacher so that I can spread the joy of physical activity onto my students and encourage them to develop lifelong healthy habits.
What causes do you care about? Global warming, education inequalities, and the rise in mental health issues and illnesses throughout the world
