George Ikemizu joined the Wisconsin Athletics olympic strength & conditioning staff in September of 2021 and currently serves as an assistant strength & conditioning coach, working with the Badgers' men’s soccer and men's and women's track & field programs and providing administrative oversight of the graduate assistant overseeing the men’s golf program.
Ikemizu comes to Wisconsin from the University of The Incarnate Word, where he graduated with his master’s degree in kinesiology and was promoted to associate strength & conditioning coach through his five-year tenure. During his time at UIW, Ikemizu worked with multiple teams including football, baseball, softball, men’s & women’s track & field, men’s & women’s soccer, and men’s & women’s tennis.
Prior to UIW, Ikemizu completed his undergraduate degree at Florida International University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude; earning his bachelor's of science degree in sports & fitness. During his time at FIU, he interned with FIU’s strength & conditioning department for four years. While at FIU, he worked with multiple sports including football, men’s & women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men’s & women’s track & field, women’s tennis, and men’s & women’s soccer.
Ikemizu also completed a summer internship at the University of Florida in 2014. He gained valuable experience working with football, men’s & women’s swimming & diving, track & field, and women’s volleyball while working with the Gators. Ikemizu is certified as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.
