Wisconsin women's basketball interim head coach Margaret McKeon assumed the role on March 9, 2025. Previously, she was promoted to associate head coach on June 13, 2024, by then-head coach Marisa Moseley.

"I am excited to announce the promotion of Margaret McKeon to associate head coach," Moseley said at the time. "Margaret has brought an immense wealth of knowledge and value to our program. Her presence and experience have undoubtedly elevated our program both on and off the court!"

McKeon is in her second season with the Badgers. In her first year, she helped lead Wisconsin to its first postseason appearance since 2011.

McKeon and Moseley share a long history, as Moseley played for McKeon when she was the head coach at Boston University. Together, they helped lead the Terriers to the program’s lone NCAA Tournament appearance in 2003.

McKeon has experience leading major rebuilding projects, successfully turning around programs at both Boston University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). She has also been a part of five teams that reached the NCAA Tournament.

At NJIT, McKeon guided the Highlanders through their transition from Division II to Division I, leading them to a second-place tie in the Great West Conference standings in 2012.

During her tenure at Boston University, she took the team from a 10th-place finish in her first season to an America East championship in her fourth. She then led BU back to the championship game in 2004, securing three consecutive winning seasons for the first time in over a decade.

Before her head coaching roles, McKeon spent four seasons at George Washington, helping the Colonials compile a 93-31 record, win three Atlantic 10 championships, and reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 1996-97 while ranking 10th nationally.

McKeon also served as an assistant coach at Houston from 1993-95, where she played a key role in recruiting the nation's 10th-ranked class in 1994.

A native of Queens, N.Y., McKeon began her coaching career at Arizona State, helping the Sun Devils reach the NCAA Tournament in the 1991-92 season.

As a player, McKeon was a standout at both Oklahoma and St. John's. She was a team captain and earned All-Big East honors at St. John's, where she set the Big East single-game assist record with 18—an achievement that still stands today.

From 2016-19, McKeon also served as the girls' athletic director and head basketball coach at Xaverian High School.
