AJ Harrison

Sports Contact: Women's Hockey, Men's and Women's Track & Field, Men's and Women's Cross Country

A.J. Harrison is in his first year serving as an assistant director of athletic communications at Wisconsin after spending two years as a staff assistant at Wisconsin. Harrison serves as the primary contact for the UW women's hockey team along with the track and field and cross country programs.

During his two years with the Badgers, Harrison coordinated media efforts for the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Frozen Four women's hockey team. The Badgers captured the WCHA playoff title in 2015 and Brittany Ammerman became the first in program history to win the Hockey Humanitarian Award. The track & field and cross country programs have found success during Harrison's tenure as the men's track and field team swept the Big Ten titles in 2014 while the men's cross country squad won the 2014 conference crown. 

Prior to joining the staff at Wisconsin, Harrison spent a year in the athletic media relations office at the University of Tulsa. He primarily worked with the Golden Hurricane volleyball, track and field and tennis programs and served as the media coordinator for the 2012 Conference USA Volleyball Championship. Harrison also assisted with football, women's basketball and softball during his year at Tulsa.

As an undergraduate at Drake University, Harrison spent three years as an athletic communications student assistant, where he served as the track and field and cross country contact for two years. He was an important member of the Drake Relays staff, working a variety of different roles that included serving as the press box coordinator in 2012. Harrison also staffed two NCAA outdoor championships and two USA outdoor championships at Drake Stadium.

He also volunteered at the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament second and third rounds in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Omaha, Nebraska, respectively, and the 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Des Moines Regional.

A native of Verona, Wisconsin, Harrison graduated from Drake with a bachelor degree in journalism in 2012.
