Kelsey Card, a two-time Olympian and NCAA national champion, joins the Badger coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. She will assist Coach Dave Astraukas with the throws.

Card is a 2016 and 2020 Olympian in the discus and also competed for Team USA in the 2015 and 2019 Pan American Games.  She has competed in five USA Championships, qualifying for the 2019 World Championships. As a junior competitor, Card won the shot put and discus at the 2014 NACAC U23 Championships and was the 2011 U.S. champion in the shot put, qualifying for the 2011 Pan American Junior Championships.

On the NCAA level, she won the 2016 NCAA Championship in the discus while earning seven first-team All-America honors. On the Big Ten level, Card won seven conference individual titles, sweeping the shot put championships both indoors and outdoors her last two seasons.

Card set school records in the indoor shot put and weight throw as well as the shot put and discus outdoors.

Card graduated from Wisconsin in 2016 with degrees in human development and family studies, and gender and women's studies while earning a certificate in classics. She graduated from Edgewood College in 2019 with a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. Card has a private therapy practice in Madison, and is training her dog, Rio, to be a therapy dog.
