Zach Ziemek, a five-time All-American and NCAA indoor heptathlon champion at Wisconsin, is beginning his first year as volunteer assistant multi-events coach for UW.Â

As a Badger, Ziemek won four Big Ten titles and set the Big Ten record in both the indoor heptathlon and decathlon. The five-time All-American also competed at six NCAA Championships, highlighted by winning the indoor heptathlon at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship with a Big Ten record of 6,173 points and finishing runner-up in the decathlon in 2016. The Itasca, Illinois native also qualified in the decathlon for the 2015 IAAF World Championships. In 2016, Ziemek took third in the decathlon at the U.S Olympic Trials with a Big Ten record of 8,413 points to qualify for the Rio Olympics. During his Olympic debut, Ziemek finished with a score of 8,392 to finish eighth overall and second for the United States.

Ziemek graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in sociology.
