Antony Picked WCHA Player of the Week
October 16, 2001 | Women's Hockey
The Wisconsin women's hockey team earned a season-opening road sweep at St. Cloud State this past weekend, and one of its forwards, Kendra Antony (Yorkton, Saskatchewan), was rewarded as the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Player of the Week.
The junior recorded a pair of assists in the Badgers' 5-1 win to open the season on Friday. She then scored twice and set up a third goal in Wisconsin's 4-2 win on Saturday. She led the team with 12 shots in the two games and finished the weekend with a plus-2 rating.
Antony's five-point weekend made her the first women 's hockey Badger to reach 100 career points. She now has 43 goals, 57 assists and 100 points for her career. She is also one of just two Badgers to play in all 72 games the program has played.
Antony and the Badgers (2-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 WCHA) open their home slate this Saturday and Sunday at the Kohl Center. The UW plays host to Connecticut (0-0-0) at 2:35 p.m. both days.
Saturday's contest against UConn is Team Poster Day, while Sunday is Schedule Magnet Day and Skate with the Badgers. Fans who bring skates to Sunday 's contest can skate on the Kohl Center ice with the players and coaches following the game.
