Women's Hockey Drops to No. 6
October 23, 2001 | Women's Hockey
The Wisconsin women's hockey team (3-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 WCHA) dropped two spots to No. 6 in the nation in the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll released Tuesday. The Badgers had a win and a tie against Connecticut this past weekend.
Wisconsin earned 63 points for the nation's sixth spot. The Badgers dropped below Brown, who moved up one spot from fifth to fourth without having played a game this year. Minnesota also jumped over the Badgers, moving from seventh to fifth after losing 7-0 and tying 1-1 against top-ranked Minnesota-Duluth. The Bulldogs remain the No. 1 team, garnering all 13 first-place votes.
The fifth annual USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from women's college ice hockey coaches and journalists, as well as composite votes from officers of the American Hockey Coaches Association and American Hockey Magazine, the official publication of USA Hockey.
Wisconsin travels to No. 10 Ohio State (2-1-1, 1-0-1) this weekend for its second conference series of the season. The Badgers play Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. EDT.
