Women's Hockey Advances One Spot in Poll
November 07, 2001 | Women's Hockey
The Wisconsin women's hockey team (4-2-2 overall, 3-2-1 WCHA) climbed one spot in the U.S. College Hockey Online Poll to No. 4, and maintained its fourth ranking in the this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Poll released Tuesday.
The Badgers dropped a pair of one-goal contests to No. 1 Minnesota-Duluth at home over the weekend, but still moved up in one poll and kept its ranking in the other. The Bulldogs took all the first-place votes in both polls, remaining the top-ranked team as they have since the season began.
The top four teams of Minnesota-Duluth, Dartmouth, Brown and Wisconsin are the same in both polls. New Hampshire ranks No. 5 in the USA Today poll, while St. Lawrence holds the fifth spot in the USCHO rankings. WCHA-member Minnesota shares the seventh spot in the USA Today rankings and holds down the sixth ranking in the USCHO Poll.
The Badgers play host to Minnesota State and former UW assistant coach Jeff Vizenor this weekend. The teams meet Friday and Saturday at Capitol Ice Arena. The games begin at 7:05 p.m.
