Badger Runners Pick Off Three Foes at Northern Illinois

The Wisconsin men's cross country team defeated three out of four opponents Friday night at Anderson Hall Field in DeKalb, Ill. Wisconsin, Eastern Illinois, UW-Green Bay and two North Central College teams took part in the race.
The Badgers defeated the North Central Freshman, the North Central Varsity and UW-GB, while falling to EIU.
Individually, sophomore Drew Hohensee was the Badgers' top finisher (18:58) and third overall. Hohensee paced his teammates well as Wisconsin took the next three overall spots within a 10-second time span. Sophomore Joe Eckerly finished fourth (18:59), junior Sam Jackson finished fifth (18:59) and freshman Ryan Cole finished sixth (19:08) for the Badgers. Dan Murray, Wisconsin's fifth runner, finished at 20:59 (40th).
EIU was the only team to complete a clean sweep of its opponents. EIU also had the top finisher in Jason Bialka, who finished in 18:47.
UW's next event is the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., Sept. 29.
