January 07, 2002 | Football
Several Wisconsin football freshman were recognized recently for their accomplishments during the 2001 season.
Running back Anthony Davis, the Big Ten's leading rusher who set the NCAA freshman record for 100-yard games with 10, was named to the Football Writers Association of America's Freshman All-America Team.
Davis also joined wide receiver Darrin Charles (14 receptions, 186 yards, two TDs), offensive linemen Dan Buenning (started all 12 games) and Jonathan Clinkscale (played in all 12 games, started six times), and defensive back Scott Starks (team high-tying three interceptions) on The Sporting News' Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
