Evans Has Ligament Damage
April 22, 2002 | Football
An MRI Monday confirmed that Wisconsin wide receiver Lee Evans has sustained ligament damage to his left knee.
Evans, who will be a senior in the fall, sustained the injury while catching a pass in the Badgers' spring football game on Saturday. Evans will continue to undergo weekly evaluations of the knee by UW medical staff. Evans will have surgery on the knee, although a date for that procedure has not been set. Evans' playing status for the fall will be dependent upon his surgery and the ensuing rehabilitation process.
Evans, a Biletnikoff Award finalist in 2001, set the Big Ten record for receiving yardage in a season with 1,545. He was a first-team all-Big Ten and all-America selection.
