Former Badger Football Great Mike Webster Passes Away

Mike Webster, one of only two former Badgers enshrined in the National Football League Hall of Fame, died Tuesday at the age of 50. Webster played at the UW from from 1971-73, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior. A tri-captain, he was also named team MVP that season.
Webster was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 1974 NFL Draft. He went on to play 17 seasons in the NFL, all but two with the Steelers. Webster was part of the Steelers' dynasty of the late 1970's, playing on four Super Bowl Champion teams. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997.
