Badgers Make Poll Vault

Wisconsin (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten), fresh off its upset victory over Ohio State Saturday night, made a big jump in the national polls which were released on Sunday.
The Badgers are ranked 12th according to the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 14th in the Associated Press media poll. UW's No. 12 ranking is its highest since it took a No. 7 A.P. rating into a Sept. 23, 2000, game vs. Northwestern.
Wisconsin, of course, advanced in the polls after its thrilling 17-10 win over then No. 3-ranked Ohio State at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday. Backup quarterback Matt Schabert hit Lee Evans with a 79-yard touchdown pass with 5:20 remaining in the fourth quarter to snap a 10-10 tie and give the UW its first win over a top-five opponent since 1985.
The Badgers will get no rest, however. Purdue (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten), ranked 13th by A.P. and 15th by the coaches, visits Madison this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CDT.
