Evans Named Big Ten Player of the Week

Wide receiver Lee Evans was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after he caught 10 passes for 258 yards and five touchdowns in the 56-21 victory over Michigan State. In that game Evans broke or tied seven UW or Big Ten records with his performance. This week marks the sixth time in 2003 a Badger football player has been named Big Ten Player of the Week.
With his performance Evans tied a Big Ten record and set a school record with five touchdowns. The Bedford, Ohio native also set a UW record for yards receiving in a game (258), touchdown catches (5), career touchdown receptions (26) and touchdown catches in a season (12).
Evans is leading the Big Ten averaging 98.7 receiving yards per game and 12 touchdown receptions. The senior captain is already Wisconsin's all-time leading receiver with 167 career receptions, 3,341 career receiving yards and receptions in 36 consecutive games.
Saturday is Senior Day for Evans and the Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers (7-3, 4-3) take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (8-3, 4-3) in their final regular season game. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. (CDT). The game will be televised on ABC.
