Women's Tennis Inks Two

Liz Carpenter and Erin Jobe have signed National Letters of Intent to become Badgers in the 2005-06 season Wisconsin women's tennis head coach Patti Henderson announced today.
Carpenter (Sierra Madre, Calif.) was a four-time all-league selection at Maranatha High School and was named her league's MVP her senior and freshman years. She helped her team to a conference championship and California Interscholastic Federation-Southern girls' tennis divisional playoff her senior season. Carpenter made individual appearances at the CIF her freshman year, when she went undefeated, and her senior year, when helped her team to an unbeaten record.
Playing in the Southern California Tennis Association, Carpenter was ranked as high as 33rd in her section and as high as 96th nationally in the 16s age group. Most recently, Carpenter won the 18s back draw of the Roxy/Quicksilver National Tournament.
This year, Erin Jobe (Corydon, Ky.) was named the Evansville Community Tennis Association Player of the Year and qualified for the National Hardcourt Championships in the 18s age group. She also finished as the runner up in the 2004 Midwest Open and the 18s Kentucky State Qualifier. Jobe advanced to the round of 32 in the Southern girls' 18s.
Her junior year, Jobe won her region in singles and helped Henderson County High School to a regional team championship. Jobe also was named to the all-state team, posting a 13-2 record. In her freshman and sophomore seasons at the International School of Bangkok, Jobe went undefeated, playing No. 1 singles. Jobe led her team to a top finish at the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian School Tennis Championships her sophomore year and a runner-up placement as a freshman.
Jobe has been ranked as high as No. 36 in the Southern Section girls ' 18s and reached a No. 250 national ranking. A four-year honor roll member, Jobe received four all-academic honors.
