Badgers head south for NCAA Tournament play
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's tennis will compete in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament against Baylor on Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m.
1. The Last Time OutÂ
At the Big Ten Tournament, Wisconsin earned the No. 6 seed and opened play with a strong win over Iowa in the first round. Standout performances came from Ekaterina Ivanova, who helped secure the doubles point and swept her singles match in straight sets, and freshman Kaede Usui, who was first off the court with a dominant win. In the second round against Michigan, the Badgers battled in a tough matchup. No. 20 Maria Sholokhova was the lone Badger to get on the board, earning an upset win over No. 13 Piper Charney.
2. Scouting the BearsÂ
Baylor enters the tournament with a 13-9 overall record, finishing the regular season ranked No. 37 in the April 21 ITA rankings. The Bears posted an 8-5 mark in conference play and are coming off a loss to TCU in the Big 12 Tournament. Senior Na Dong leads the team with a 21-9 record this season and is currently ranked No. 73, with junior Zozana Kombucha close behind at No. 85. Head coach Joey Scrivano, now in his 24th season, holds a 485-227 career record at Baylor.
3. Matchup by the NumbersÂ
