Badgers Visit Pearl Harbor, Eat Turkey on Day 2
November 24, 2005 | Football
Both the University of Wisconsin football and women's basketball teams got in some sightseeing and celebrated Thanksgiving Wednesday on their second day in Hawaii.
Following practice (9 a.m. local time for the basketball team, noon for the football team), everybody headed to Pearl Harbor, where they watched a short documentary and then took a boat over to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.
'I really enjoyed visiting Pearl Harbor,' running back Booker Stanley said. 'I thought it was educational, and just being there you could really feel the history and energy of it all.'
The student-athletes and staff were then given some free time; some used it to study, others grabbed something to eat, while others went to the beach.
In the evening, both teams got together, along with staff and family, and enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast at the hotel, albeit one day early (it's probably best not to eat such a large meal the day before competition!).
Afterward, everybody was free for the evening, ready for another adventure on Thursday.
