Seven Badgers Go In NFL Draft
April 24, 2005 | Football
The 2005 National Football League Draft is now history and the record will show that Wisconsin had one of the best drafts of the Alvarez era.
Wisconsin is one of just four programs in the nation with at least seven players drafted over the weekend. Oklahoma had 11, Florida State had nine and the Badgers and Virginia had seven apiece.
The Badgers' seven draftees tie for the second-most of the Alvarez era. The 2001 draft yielded eight Wisconsin players, while the 1995 draft showed seven Badger selections.
Here is a re-cap of this year's Wisconsin draft choices:
1st Round: Erasmus James, Minnesota Vikings
3rd Round: Scott Starks, Jacksonville Jaguars
4th Round: Dan Buenning, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
5th Round: Jonathan Welsh, Indianapolis Colts
6th Round: Anttaj Hawthorne, Oakland Raiders
6th Round: Jason Jefferson, New Orleans Saints
7th Round: Anthony Davis, Indianapolis Colts
