University of Wisconsin senior Donovan Raiola has been named to the Fall 2005 Dave Rimington Trophy Watch List, the awarding organization announced Monday.
The Rimington Trophy is given annually to the most outstanding center in the country. Raiola, who also was selected to the pre-season watch list in March, made the list for the second straight season.
'Our watch list candidates represent some of the most storied college football programs in the country, and this season features a number of great match-ups between watch list candidates,' Rimington said in a news release. 'All the centers on the watch list are unique leaders on their respective teams. '
In 2004, Raiola started every game for the second consecutive year and was a consensus honorable mention All-Big Ten pick.
Raiola's brother, Dominic, won the inaugural award in 2000 while playing for Nebraska.
The Rimington Trophy recipient is determined by a consensus of the four All-America teams: The Walter Camp Football Foundation, America Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America and The Sporting News.
Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, years in which he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's premiere college interior lineman.
