September 06, 2005 | Football
The Walter Camp Football Foundation today announced University of Wisconsin running back Brian Calhoun as its Division I-A National Offensive Player of the Week.
Calhoun carried the ball 43 times for 258 yards and matched a school-record with five rushing touchdowns in leading the Badgers past Bowling Green last Saturday. He also caught a 39-yard pass to amass 297 yards of total offense.
The junior from Oak Creek, Wis., also was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, and he is a nominee for both Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Week and USATODAY.com College Player of the Week.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation, a New Haven-based all-volunteer group, was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team.
Last year, former UW player Erasmus James was a first-team Walter Camp All-America selection, while ex-Badger Jim Leonhard was tabbed for second team honors.
