
On the Road, Badgers Meet the Mavericks

For a Fri.-Sat. series the Badgers travel across state borders to take on Minnesota State University, who had the previous week off. Wisconsin is coming off a weekend sweep against North Dakota, where they out-scored the Fighting Sioux 15-1. Minnesota State 's most recent series was also against UND and ended with two shut-outs for MSU.
Wisconsin's school-record 22-game winning streak remains intact heading into the weekend match-up. With an overall record of 9-0-1 and a league record of 7-0-1, the UW maintains its No. 1 ranking in the nation.
The accomplishments continue to multiply for Wisconsin's offensive leaders Sara Bauer and Jinelle Zaugg. Against North Dakota, Bauer accumulated seven points, 19 for the season. Zaugg also has tallied 19 points in 10 games and both stand tied, leading the country in total points.
Of note, the Oct. 27 and 29 series allowed for a number of school-records to be broken. With her first assist on Friday against UND, Bauer became the first Badger to amass 100 assists in her career. Less than six minutes later, she moved into second place on Wisconsin's all-time point list with her second assist of the game.
Zaugg added three assists on the weekend and is now tied for 10th place on the UW career points list at 82.
In goal, Wisconsin continues to rotate goaltenders Christine Dufour and Jessie Vetter. The goalies have both seen success early on, standing fourth and sixth in the nation, respectively, in the goals-against average category. Dufour stands at 1.25, while Vetter has a 1.35 average.
The Badgers have beaten the Mavericks in their last 15 meetings. Additionally, in 28 games, the UW holds a 27-0-1 edge in the series.
Most recently, Minnesota State goaltender Britni Kehler was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts against North Dakota on Oct. 21 and 22. It was the second time of her career posting consecutive shutouts.
After tallying five points in the series against UND, sophomore Maggie Fisher was also recognized as WCHA Offensive Player of the Week also following the UND series. The forward now ranks first on the team in points with nine, totaling five assists and four goals.
The Mavericks have seen recent contribution from two freshman, Christina Lee and Kala Buganski. Both recorded three points against North Dakota in Saturday night game, while Lee went on to add another goal and assist on Sunday. Lee's team-high five points equaled Fisher's.
At All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn., the Friday night match-up begins at 7:07 p.m., while Saturday's game starts at 3:07 p.m.
