Gavinski to Redshirt This Season

Wisconsin men's basketball freshman J.P. Gavinski announced Thursday afternoon following practice that he will use his redshirt and sit out the 2006-07 season. Gavinski will participate in all practices and attend all games, home and away.

Gavinski played nine minutes in Wisconsin's exhibition opener against UW-Stout on Nov. 3, going 0-for-3 from the field, grabbing three rebounds and handing out one assist. He did not see action in last night's exhibition game vs. Carroll College.

The Badgers open the regular season on Sunday against Mercer at the Kohl Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST.
