Bernstein Honored With Glickman Award
February 07, 2006 | Football
Matt Bernstein, a fullback with the Wisconsin football team from 2001-05, has been named the Marty Glickman Outstanding Jewish Scholastic Male Athlete of the Year, the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum announced.
Bernstein will be honored at a ceremony in New York on April 30.
The Scarsdale, N.Y., native rushed for 508 yards and five touchdowns during his career. Most memorable among Bernstein's achievements at Wisconsin was his 123-yard rushing performance against Penn State in 2004. In that game he took over at tailback in the second half after having fasted for 24 hours prior to the contest in observance of Yom Kippur.
Bernstein, a 2005 team captain, missed all but the first five games of last season due to an injury.
