Daniels Goes to Houston in Fourth Round

Tight end Owen Daniels, Wisconsin's fourth-leading receiver in 2005, was the first player chosen in the fourth round of the National Football League Draft on Sunday.
Daniels, a native of Naperville, Ill., was selected by the Houston Texans with the 98th overall pick in the draft.
Daniels came to Wisconsin as a quarterback before making a successful switch to tight end. He registered 22 receptions for 268 yards and four touchdowns last season. His six catches for 88 yards and three TDs against Temple in '05 all represented career highs and the three scoring grabs tied the school record for TD catches in a game by a tight end. Daniels's other touchdown reception last season came in the Capital One Bowl upset victory over seventh-ranked Auburn.
"Just being in the position to get drafted after coming to Wisconsin as a quarterback then switching to tight end and dealing with injuries along the way, I'm proud of what I've been through and how far I've come and I'm honored to be in the position I am," Daniels said.
Daniels is the third Badger to be selected in the 2005 NFL Draft. RB Brian Calhoun (Detroit) and WR Brandon Williams (San Francisco) were third-round picks on Saturday.
