UW Coach Selected for Achieving Excellence Program

Badger assistant coach Tasha McDowell has been selected to participate in the the 2006 Black Coaches Association "Achieving Coaching Excellence" (A.C.E.) program for ethnic minority female basketball coaches. One of just 11 A.C.E. coaches selected, McDowell will attend speciall sessions the BCA National Convention and Expo June 4-7 in Indianapolis.
This popular BCA program is designed to assist an already talented group of to become the next generation of head women basketball coaches. The A.C.E. Program is committed to developing the total coach in the areas of communications, budget planning, Xs and Os and program development. The program will create an environment where thoughts and ideas can be exchanged on issues that face minority women basketball coaches. A.C.E. Program
McDowell completed her first season at Wisconsin as guard coach and co-recruiting coordinator. She arrived at UW from UC-Santa Barbara where she was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2000-04. A native of Moline, Ill., McDowell graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
This is the third year of this unique program that has been made possible through the combined efforts of the BCA, the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee and the Committee on Women's Athletics.
