October 02, 2007 | Men's Cross Country
Junior Matt Withrow has been named the Big Ten Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced today.
Competing in his first meet of the season, Withrow took home the individual title at the Bill Dellinger Invitational last Saturday in Eugene, Ore. The Tinley Park, Ill., native outran a talented field of 138 runners en route to his victory, covering the 8,000-meter course in 23 minutes and 20 seconds.
The two-time All-American's performance helped the Badgers place second at the meet with 73 points. Host Oregon took home the team title with 54 points, beating out seven other teams ranked in the top 30 of the latest USTFCCCA poll.
This is Withrow's first weekly honor from the conference office.
