October 25, 2007 | Women's Hockey
The No. 2 Wisconsin women's hockey team returns to Madison this weekend to play host to Minnesota State Oct. 26-27 at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers (6-1-1, 2-1-1 WCHA) are 22-1-2 at home since the start of the 2006-07 season and will look to improve on that record against the Mavericks (1-2-1, 1-0-1), a team that Wisconsin is 31-0-1 all-time against.
Wisconsin will host its annual Kid's Day at the Kohl Center prior to Friday 's game. A day of fun and games is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids of all ages are welcome and admission is free. For more information on Kid's Day at the Kohl Center, click sportid=200%29"> --> here .
The puck drops at 2 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission to Friday's game is FREE.
Women's hockey fans who can't make it to the Kohl Center this weekend will still have the opportunity to watch the Badgers face the Mavericks live on their computers. For the second straight season, all UW women's hockey games at the Kohl Center will be video streamed live on uwbadgers.com.
Fans can access the FREE video feed by going to uwbadgers.com and selecting the WEBCASTS tab at the top right of the front page. Both games will also be broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television at 10:30 p.m., marking the second and third of at least four games to be televised statewide this season by WPT.
Last weekend, Wisconsin's NCAA-record unbeaten streak of 32 games (28-0-4) was snapped during a series split with St. Cloud State Oct. 19-20. Despite 17 saves from junior goaltender Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.) and a goal from sophomore Kayla Hagen (Parrish, Fla.) the Badgers fell to Huskies 2-1 in the first game of the series.
It was a different story on Saturday night, however, as freshman Mallory Deluce 's (London, Ontario) hat-trick helped lead Wisconsin past St. Cloud 5-0.
Vetter had another solid performance in net as she made 12 saves and earned her 19th career shutout, breaking the school record for career shutouts which she had previously shared with Christine Dufour.
Wisconsin, which is currently tied for second in the WCHA, has a 15-0-1 record against Minnesota State at the Kohl Center. Last season the Badgers went 4-0-0 against the Mavericks out-scoring them 22-2.
