November 29, 2007 | Women's Hockey
After spending nearly a month away from home, the No. 4 University of Wisconsin women 's hockey team returns to the Kohl Center this weekend to square off against No. 3 Minnesota Duluth Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in a rematch of the 2007 NCAA Championship game.
Minnesota Duluth (10-3-1 overall) comes to Madison leading the WCHA with a 9-3-0 conference record. Wisconsin (10-4-2, 6-2-2, WCHA) is currently in third place, however the Badgers have played two fewer conference games than either UMD or second-place Minnesota.
The puck drops at 2 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Women's hockey fans who can't make it to the Kohl Center this weekend will still have the opportunity to watch the Badgers face the Bulldogs live on their computers. For the second straight season, all UW women's hockey games at the Kohl Center will be video streamed live on uwbadgers.com.

Last weekend the Badgers took three out of four points during a WCHA series against Bemidji State at the John Glas Fieldhouse. The Badgers defeated the Beavers 7-0 on Friday before settling for a 0-0 tied on Saturday.
Six different Badgers scored goals on Friday to lead UW to a 7-0 victory over Bemidji State. Senior Jinelle Zaugg (Eagle River, Wis.) led things off by scoring just 32 seconds into the contest and went on to add her eighth goal of the season later in the first period.
With the pair of goals, Zaugg now has 73 career goals, placing her in third on the school's career goals list and just seven behind former Badger Sara Bauer in second place. Meghan Hunter holds the record with 84 career goals.
Also playing well in Friday's contest was junior goaltender Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.). Vetter made 13 saves in the game to notch her 21st career shutout and her sixth of the season. The win was the 40th of Vetter's career in just her 51st career game. Sophomore Alannah McCready (Blaine, Minn.) got the start in net in the series finale. McCready made 14 saves to improve to 1-0-1 in her career with two shutouts.
Wisconsin is 14-17-6 all-time against the Bulldogs, including 3-1-1 last season. UMD was the only team to beat Wisconsin last season, claiming a 2-0 victory on Nov. 24, 2006 at the Kohl Center. The Badgers defeated the Bulldogs when it counted though, winning 4-1 in the 2007 NCAA Championship game on March 18 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
