Downin To Compete in USA 8K Championships

Former Badger Matt Downin will compete in the USA 8K Championships this Saturday in New York. The race, which will be run over the last eight kilometers of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials course, will begin at 9 a.m. in Central Park.
Downin, the 1998 and 1999 Big Ten Conference men's cross country champion, is a two-time USA Club Cross Country champion. He is a two-time member of the U.S. team at the World Cross Country Championships. Downin, 30, recently returned to Madison from his native New Jersey.
