August 07, 2007 | Men's Basketball
Joe Robinson has been hired as the director of operations for the Wisconsin men 's basketball team, head coach Bo Ryan announced today. Robinson, a 2004 UW graduate, has spent the last two seasons as the team's video coordinator.
'I'm very pleased to have Joe in the position of director of basketball operations,' Ryan said. 'He has been with us since my first season and knows the people involved with the program and how the program runs. That familiarity, combined with his tremendous work ethic and dedication to the Badgers, makes him an ideal fit for the position.'
Robinson takes over for Will Ryan, who was hired as an assistant coach by North Dakota State on July 18. As the director of basketball operations, Robinson will be responsible for coordinating the team's travel, handling outside requests of the coaching staff, acting as the staff liaison with the Badger Basketball Boosters and helping plan the Wisconsin Boys Basketball Summer Camps in addition to various administrative and scheduling duties.
'I'm extremely excited for this opportunity to stay with Wisconsin basketball, ' Robinson said. 'It is a great time to be a part of this program with all of the success Coach Ryan has had. Being around the program for the past six years will make the transition much easier.'
In his role as video coordinator Robinson was responsible for the team's film exchange program, editing scout and teaching tapes, as well as the team's end-of-the-year highlight video. Prior to that, Robinson spent one season as an administrative assistant for the men's basketball team. He was also a student manager during his time as an undergraduate.
Robinson is 27 years old and lives with his wife, Sarah, in Madison.
