
Badgers blow past Mavericks 8-0

Wisconsin had an explosive second period, scoring six goals to ignite the Badgers 8-0 win over Minnesota State. Five Badgers scored to remain unbeaten and improve to 15-0-2 and 9-0-2 in the WCHA. Wisconsin now has the longest unbeaten streak with 17 games since the NCAA recognized the sport, passing Minnesota's 16 game streak from the 2004-05 season.
Senior Jessie Vetter stopped 16 shots to increase her NCAA record to 32 career shutouts and it marks her seventh of the season. Vetter (14-0-2) handed the Mavericks their first shutout loss of the season.
After the first period the Badgers were up 1-0 with a tap-in goal from Hilary Knight at the edge of the goal crease. Knight scored at the 16:23 mark to put the Badgers up late in the first period.
Wisconsin started the scoring early in the second period with two goals within 11 seconds of each other. Mallory Deluce scored at 3:01 and was followed up with Erika Lawler 's first goal of the day at 3:12 off of a breakaway from the face-off.
Knight scored her second goal of the day and 20th of the season at 13:25 from Lawler and Alycia Matthews. Brooke Ammerman scored on a power play at 15:58 at a scramble at the net for her 15th goal of the season. Angie Keseley scored her first goal of the game at the 17:10 mark followed by Lawler's second goal of the day at 18:38 to close out the period 7-0.
Keseley scored again in the third period off assists from Prevost and Knight at 17:22. Prevost tallied three assists in the game. The six goals in the period marks the third time the Badgers have scored six in a period. The school record is seven goals in a period.
Knight and Lawler each scored two goals and Knight had three assists while Lawler had two to lead the Badgers attack on the Mavericks. Keseley also had a two-goal game to give her nine goals on the season. Knight, Lawler and Duggan each increase their point-scoring streak to five games.
Wisconsin went 2-5 on the power play while MSU (6-8-1 overall, 3-6-1-1 WCHA) went 0-3. The Badgers outshot the Mavericks 30-16. Alli Altmann of MSU had 22 saves in the loss.
Wisconsin completes its series with the Mavericks Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2:07 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
