Calhoun continues to give back
July 28, 2008 | Football
Former Badger running back Brian Calhoun continues to remember his roots. Earlier this summer the current Detroit Lion joined other sports celebrities in hosting the inaugural Brian Calhoun Sportsfest at Oak Creek High School on June 29-30.
More than 400 area kids participated in Sportsfest which consisted of a free football and cheerleading camp, celebrity basketball game, and a celebrity bowling event. Local kids were provided with the opportunity to mix, mingle, and learn valuable insights from some NFL players in regard to what it takes to be successful in school, sports and life. Each participant received instruction from high school coaches and also had the opportunity to mix it up with Brian and some of his NFL friends.
Calhoun, who ran for 1,636 yards and set UW season records with 348 rushing attempts and 22 touchdowns in his only campaign (2005) as a Badger, is starting his third season with the Lions.
