Podcast with Peacock
September 04, 2008 | Men's Cross Country
In a recent podcast interview with John W. Davis of Trackshark.com, UW sophomore athid=6103&deptid=195"> --> Landon Peacock sat down to preview the 2008 season. During the discussion, Peacock covered several topics such as his predictions for the upcoming season, his transition into college and his reaction to the off-season coaching switch from Jerry Schumacher to staffid=1045"> --> Mick Byrne . One of the most interesting parts of the podcast dealt with the topic of 'Badger Miles.' The sophomore from Morley, Michigan described this system as the team's way to track their mileage while running, which has helped in the training for nine-straight Big Ten titles.
Both Trackshark.com and Peacock himself have high expectations for an experienced Badger team that placed fifth at nationals last November. Trackshark.com lists Wisconsin third in the 2008 preseason national rankings behind only Oregon and Oklahoma State. Landon hopes to move up on the team from his strong 2007 freshman season and challenge his teammates to better their chances at a national title run that hasn't occurred since 2005.
Make sure to support the men's cross country team as they begin their quest for a 10th-straight Big Ten title as well as a national championship on Saturday, September 13th when they compete at the Northern Illinois Huskie Open to begin the season.
