Badger Ridge Women's Results
VERONA, Wis. -- On a chilly Saturday morning at Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course, Wisconsin freshman Beth Hartig claimed her first career win at the Badger Ridge Run with a time of 25:56.9. The Middleton, Wis. native led from nearly start to finish, edging out the competition which included local schools like UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and Haskell.
Fellow Badger freshman Hope Marshall finished just a few strides behind Hartig, claiming second place with a time of 26:04.5. A pair of UW-Whitewater runners finished in third and fourth, narrowly edging out Wisconsin’s only other finisher, sophomore Kate Sanft, who registered a time of 27:28.7.
Wisconsin ran several other women, who dropped at the midway point, using the race as more of a training session.
The Badgers will head to University Park, Pa. next weekend to compete in the Big Ten Championships hosted by Penn State. The men’s and women’s races are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1 with a start time of 9:45 a.m. (central).
