MADISON, Wis. -- Freshman Michael Ross led the way for the Wisconsin men over the final two days of the Arizona Diving Invitational, scoring a sixth-place finish on the 3-meter springboard Saturday and a seventh-place showing on the platform Sunday.
Ross tallied a score of 245.45 in the championship final of the 3-meter competition to claim sixth place, but he entered the final round after a strong tally of 302.75 in the preliminary round.
On Sunday, Ross followed his springboard performance by posting a score of 240.60 on the platform to hold off teammate Al Morrison for seventh place. Morrison scored 234.70 to claim eighth for the Badgers.
A day earlier, junior Caleb Percevecz actually tallied the Badgers’ top score on the 3-meter board, as he a posted a score of 310.10 to claim third place in the consolation final of the springboard competition. His preliminary score of 298.65 was ninth-best overall, with Percevecz missing a spot in the championship final by just .30 points.
Also claiming a spot on the consolation final was teammate Tim Feyereisen, who racked up a score of 264.95 to claim seventh place in the final round.
The Badgers’ divers now take a break from competition until a dual meet with Hawaii on Jan. 9, while the team’s swimmers return to action for Texas Invitational the weekend of Dec. 3-5.
