MADISON, Wis. -- Owen Daniels’ terrific 2009 season came to a sudden end on Sunday as he tore his ACL and the Houston Texans announced he will be lost for the season. Daniels was on pace to set new career highs in receptions and receiving yards this season, and he had already tied a career high with five touchdowns. He finishes the year with 40 catches for 519 yards and the five scores.
One week after setting season highs in reception and receiving yards, Buffalo’s Lee Evans fell back down to earth a bit with two catches for 29 yards in the Bills’ 31-10 loss to Houston. He did have a key block (wide receiver, top of screen), though, on Terrell Owens’ 29-yard touchdown run.
Wide receiver Chris Chambers caught one pass for 20 yards in San Diego’s 24-16 win over Oakland, but was released by the Chargers on Monday after losing his starting spot to Malcolm Floyd in week seven.
After not playing for the past four weeks, running back Michael Bennett returned to the field for the Chargers. He did not record any statistics, though.
Rookie defensive end Matt Shaughnessy had a career day in the Raiders’ loss to the Chargers. He set a career high with five tackles and picked up his first sack in the NFL.

Rookie linebacker DeAndre Levy was out of the starting lineup for the first time in three games, but he did have two tackles and one pass defended as Detroit lost to St. Louis, 17-10.
Rookie tight end Travis Beckum has now played in all eight games this season for the New York Giants after seeing action in the team’s 40-17 loss to Philadelphia. However, he has gone three weeks in a row without a reception after catching two passes for 12 yards in week five.
P.J. Hill did not play for his new team, Philadelphia, in its win over the Giants.
Rookie linebacker Jonathan Casillas appeared on special teams in New Orleans’ 35-27 victory over Atlanta on Monday night.
Mike Schneck served as long snapper for the Falcons in their loss to the Saints and had one tackle.
Matt Katula was the long snapper for Baltimore in its 30-7 win over previously undefeated Denver.
Defensive back Scott Starks played for the first time since week four for the Jacksonville Jaguars but did not have any stats.
Joe Thomas started at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns in their 30-6 loss to Chicago.
Jim Sorgi did not see any action as Indianapolis defeated San Francisco, 18-14.
Mark Tauscher has yet to make his 2009 debut as he did not play in Green Bay’s 38-26 loss to Minnesota.
Defensive tackle Nick Hayden was made inactive by Carolina.
Chris Pressley of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kraig Urbik of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Casey Rabach of the Washington Redskins were all on byes this week.
In the United Football League, Brooks Bollinger threw for 323 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while completing 22-of-35 passes as the Florida Tuskers topped the Las Vegas Locomotives, 27-24, to clinch a spot in the UFL Championship game.
In a losing effort, Ross Kolodziej had two tackles and Wendell Bryant had one for the Locomotives.
