Badgers finish seventh at Lady Northern Invitational

Glencoe, Ill. -- The Wisconsin Badgers women’s golf team finished seventh at the Lady Northern Invitational, held at Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. The precursor to next spring’s Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships featured 10 of 11 Big Ten teams in the field.
Purdue won the tournament with a 280-292-286--858, finishing 17 strokes ahead of Northwestern. Ohio State (883) was in third, followed by Iowa State (887) and Texas Tech (891). The Badgers were 43 strokes off the lead, shooting a 305-297-299—901.
Northwestern’s Lauren Weaver took home individual honors with an 8-under par 208.
The Badgers were led by Alyssa Elliott, who shot a career best 18-hole score of 69 on the final day to finish tied for 15th with a 5-over-par 221.Her 54-hole score also ties a season best.
Lindsay Danielson shot a 73-74-77=224 to finish tied for 25th. Jessie Gerry shot a 78-76-76=230 to finish in 42nd place, tied with teammate Kris Yoo, who shot a 80-73-77=230. Carly Werwie shot a 76-78-77=231 to finish 47th.
Competing as an individual, Alexis Nelson finished tied for 37th with a 13-over-par 75-75-79—229.
The Badgers next travel to the Alamo Invitational to finish their fall schedule. The event will be held on Oct. 31 – Nov. 2 at Briggs Ranch in San Antonio, Tex.
