MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin volleyball team (11-7, 0-7) continued its struggles in Big Ten Conference play falling to Indiana (15-4, 3-4) 25-16, 25-18, 25-8 on Friday night in the UW Field House. The Hoosier's blocking was too much for the Badgers to overcome as they remain winless in conference play.

 Fast Facts
• 9 Badgers contributed to the team's attacks
• Kuzma had a match-high 15 digs

The two teams ended the night close in kills - Wisconsin with 25 and Indiana with 26 - but the Hoosiers were a lot more successful in their attacks with a .263 hitting percentage in comparison to the Badgers negative .084.

Indiana's Jordan Haverly and Kelci Marschall led both teams with seven kills apiece. Dominique Thompson led the Badgers with six kills of her own. Alexis Mitchell and Mary Ording finished close behind with five and four kills, respectively. Thompson and Mitchell were two of only four Badgers to hit positive in the match.

The Badgers put up 25 assists and had 40 digs in the loss, with Indiana putting up 24 assists and tallying 38 digs.  Wisconsin started off the night running a 6-2 offense as Janelle Gabrielsen put up 11 assists and Jessa Benson added 10 assists.  Kim Kuzma led all players with 15 digs while Gabrielsen added 10 saves. Caitlin Cox led Indiana with 12 digs.

What made the biggest difference of the night was the Hoosiers 17.5 blocks. Ashley Benson led all players with 13 blocks while Mary Chaudoin added eight stuffs. Wisconsin only stopped two shots on the night, led by Thompson with two.

The Hoosiers also served tough, recording eight aces while the UW managed just two aces, one apiece from Mitchell and Kuzma.

The Badgers got off to a slow start against the Hoosiers, finding themselves in a 15-7 deficit early in the first set. Thompson, who had four kills in the period, was able to spark some momentum with a big kill to start a 6-2 run to bring the score to 17-13. Service errors caused both teams problems but Indiana was able to come out on top with the 25-16 first set win. The Hoosiers outblocked UW 6.5 to 0 in the first and both teams finished with four service errors.

Wisconsin fought back in the second set as it kept the score close with 13 ties. The Badgers found their first lead of the night with a big kill by Ording to bring the score to 7-6. The set continued to go back and forth with neither team leading by more than one point until Indiana was able to push ahead 20-18 off two UW hitting errors. The small lead was all the Hoosiers needed to finish off the 25-18 set.

The Hoosiers carried their momentum into the third set, where they got off to an early 6-1 lead. A big hit by Mitchell and block by Thompson put two points on the board for the Badgers, but unfortunately that was not enough to give the team a spark. The Badgers finished the match with a 25-8 third set loss, the fewest points scored in a single set under the 25-point scoring system.

The Badgers look to earn their first conference win as they continue their weekend homestand on Sunday, playing host to the Purdue Boilermakers at 1 p.m.
