MADISON, Wis. -- In their final homestand of the season, the Wisconsin volleyball team fell to Border Battle rival Minnesota in a 3-0 match. The 19th-ranked Gophers proved to be too much for the Badgers, out-blocking the team 8-1 as they took the 25-18, 25-11, 25-22 match.

 Fast Facts

Dominique Thompson led Wisconsin's (15-13, 4-13) offense with nine kills on the night and teamed up with Elise Walch for the Badgers lone block of the night. Walch finished with eight kills, including seven in the third set alone.

Five others Badgers contributed to Wisconsin's 34 total kills, but the Badgers hit just .066 on the night as they recorded numerous unforced hitting errors.

Minnesota (21-8, 11-6) put away 39 kills, led by a match-high 11 from Lauren Gibbemeyer. The Gophers also hit .312 as a team and outblocked Wisconsin 8-1.

Neither team served well with both recording one service ace. Wisconsin tallied nine service errors while Minnesota gave up six points off errors.

The Badgers started things off strong in the first set with their only service ace coming on the first point by Annemarie Hickey. Minnesota answered back and the two teams kept the set close until an 11-11 tie. Two hitting errors by the Badgers sparked a 4-1 run for the Gophers to go up 15-12.

Minnesota went on another 4-1 run after a block by Tori Dixon. Wisconsin called a timeout to regroup and iced the Minnesota serve to end the run at 19-13. The Badgers held off one set point with a kill from Julie Mikaelsen but a service error for UW ended the set, 25-18.
